Applications
- Used in parts that require a soft core with a very hard surface layer.
- Some applications are intended for the manufacture of gears, crowns, worms, bushings, bearing tracks, among others.
- Main applications are intended for those where it is necessary to impart high hardness on the surface and counteract wear caused by dynamic metal-to-metal contact.
Characteristics:
- Steel for carburizing.
- Good hardenability.
- Steel with very good hot forgeability characteristics.
- Good weldability.
- Good machinability, approximately 66% compared to AISI 1112 steel.
- The excellent combination of its alloying elements provides high toughness in the core, high surface hardness, and wear resistance.
